Circular Economy

Wasco’s journey: Delivering excellence and
sustainable growth globally.

The circular economy is an economic system designed to extract the maximum value from products, materials, and resources for as long as possible while minimising waste. Maximising the use of available resources is not only good economics but also essential for achieving sustainability goals.

Unlike the traditional linear economy, which follows a ‘take, make, dispose’ model, the circular economy emphasises a closed-loop approach. At Wasco, adopting the circular economy involves the effective utilisation of waste, as well as the repurposing, revamping, and reusing of resources efficiently.

Waste to Products

The conversion of waste into base materials or other products creates opportunities for new revenue streams. Waste gases from flaring are transformed into valuable products such as liquefied natural gas (LNG), while decommissioned pipeline materials are recycled or repurposed for infrastructure projects, further reinforcing efforts to reduce waste across operations.

Repurpose, Revamp & Reuse

Lifecycle extension is achieved by rehabilitating aging pipelines through recoating and repairs or repurposing them for new uses, such as transporting natural gas or CO2 for carbon capture.

Resource Efficiency

Good economics involves the efficient allocation and use of resources. In the circular economy this entails optimising production processes, reducing excess waste, and ensuring responsible sourcing.
